The Denton Public Works Department serves vital functions. Its employees are often the unseen heroes of our community, working hard every day to ensure that our town's infrastructure continues to function. Among the important duties of the Public Works Department include the following:

  • Operating water treatment plant
  • Operating sewer treatment plant
  • Water distribution system repair and maintenance
  • Sewer collection system repair and maintenance
  • Water line construction
  • Sewer line construction
  • Street repair and maintenance
  • Street sign repair and replacement
  • Grounds keeping for all public spaces including right-of-ways, street sides, parks, government buildings and cemetery grounds
  • Building maintenance for local government-owned properties
  • Snow and ice removal for streets and roads owned by the Town of Denton
  • Solid waste disposal
  • Cardboard, white goods, electronics recycling for local businesses
  • Putting up and taking down Town Christmas decorations

Michael High - Public Works Director

Michael High

The Public Works Director, Mr. Michael High, has served with the Town of Denton for over 20 years and holds the following certifications:

  • Grade IV Collection System Operators Certification (acts as the Operator in Responsible Charge for the Collection System)
  • Grade III Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification (acts as the Back-up ORC for the Wastewater Treatment Plant)
  • Grade A Water Distribution System Operator Certification
  • Grade A Water Treatment Facility Operator
  • Backflow/Cross Connection Tester
  • Water Meter Tester Technician
  • Grade 3 Maintenance Technician and Grade I Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator.
